Sasquatch
This past weekend, my friend and I took a road trip to Sasquatch Music Festival. It was so much fun and I’ve never seen so many amazing performances!
Of Monsters and Men: They were the first band we saw at the festival and the two main singers were absolutely adorable. I loved their passion and I will be listening to much more of their stuff.
Santigold: She was cray cray! She put on a very creative and energetic performance filled with insane costumes and a horse. COOL.
Girl Talk: I have no words except for…PARTAYYYY.
Said The Whale: I feel like the stage location put a damper on their performance but hey I still sing along when I hear them on the radio. Go Vancouver!
Fatal Lucciauno: REAL SHIT. I loved how he was so interactive with the crowd and his rapping was killer. Such a badass dude.
Alabama Shakes: I love them. They bring out the country loving side of me - even though they aren’t all that country, just remind me of it. I need to get more of their stuff!
Jamey Johnson: A country man with his gee-tar. Kind of brought down the mojo but he was still a great country singer, perhaps slightly out of place at this festival though.
Childish Gambino: He’s so mad bro…and he likes the n word. COOL.
Metric: Second time seeing them and they put on a great performance every time. I love how they are so into their music and incredibly passionate.
The Shins: Didn’t know very many songs by them but we sang along to the ones we did know.
Wolfgang Gartner: Holy fucking party. I may have lost my panties at this one.
M. Ward: He’s just indie cuteness and his voice is lovely.
The Head And The Heart: Fricken adorable band, must get more of their stuff! There was one song that I hadn’t heard where the female vocalist belts out at one point and it gave me chills - must find that song!
Beirut: I think this was one of the least thrilling performances of the weekend. The band didn’t really interact with the audience and they spent a lot of time talking to each other away from the microphones between songs which made things slightly weird.
Bon Iver: <3 I…I just love them so much. The lights and the harmonizing, and the instruments and the vocals and just OI. I fell in love. By far THE BEST of the weekend, followed by Wolfgang of course. I hope to see them many more times! Not to mention Bon Iver played on my birthday and that was the best birthday gift I have ever gotten! :)
The festival was amazing once we got to know our way around - it was a huge venue! I think I will definitely look into more festivals and such because it was a total blast and everyone is in such good spirits and incredibly friendly. Our neighbours were wonderful - made us breakfast, gave us shots and a joint on my birthday, the festival was vegetarian friendly, and all day err day the sweet smell of weed lingered in the air. Here’s to a fan-fucking-tastic weekend! :)
